Good news cheers

For many Record readers, criticism develops faster than praise and our awareness relates easier to bad news than it does to good news.

In an attempt to correct this imbalance, I would like to commend the Record for two fine items of outstanding good news on page B1 on April 27.

The first, by Frances Barrick, told about a courageous, strong and happy young man named Paul Cescon. We all admire his positive attitude in dealing with our common fear, cancer.

A second story, by Brian Caldwell, was must reading for all fathers, grandfathers, their spouses and certainly for all professional sports personalities. As a grandfather, I wanted very much to congratulate Otis Nixon for his demonstration of kind humanity.

Both stories were extremely well written.
